Gliding the cutters in several directions over the same area works very well. It's a lot lighter than a rechargeable model so there's no chance of it tiring my arm.I tap out the stubble every 3 or 4 days. I disassemble the head and brush out the stubble every 2 weeks. I bought replacement cutters a year ago, but haven't had any reason to discard the originals. The cord still coils up nicely when not in use and limits counter top cable clutter. The cord pulls out from the shaver sometimes, but it's easy to hold it in place when shaving and stretching the cord all the way.
It's comfortable to hold and move around. Just leave it on and plug and unplug the cord. My face feels soft, smooth, and nice. 5 cents for shaves this good.
The machine is powerful and reliable. It's easier to feel my skin with my free hand to know which areas need more shaving. I've owned one for two and a half years. I clean the cutters and heads with rubbing alcohol every 2 or 3 months. The coiled cord is short, but stretches out with use.
Instead of standing in front of the mirror and hurrying, I slowly and carefully shave when I'm sitting down doing other things. I followed the advice with no problems. The metal is stronger and thicker than foils. It still has the original blades and they shave very closely.
Every other shaver I've owned became useless and dangerous when a single hole appeared in the foil, but I don't think that could happen with Norelco's well engineered heads. It was also the only corded shaver I could find. It's certainly quieter than buzzing foil shavers.Norelco deserves a lot of credit for designing, manufacturing, and selling such a great product. I use the shaver 4 feet from the outlet. Much to my delight, it has kept working like new far beyond my expectations.I'll be a rotary shaver user for the rest of my life.
$40 for 2.5 years means it has cost me less than 5 cents per shave. It probably saves electricity too. Excellent deal. It is much more mechanically efficient to have the blades moving in one direction the whole time compared to vibrating back and forth.
It looks great too.The key is to take my time. A very minor inconvenience.I bought this simple model because it was the cheapest and expected it to last 18 months. They still work well even if I let the stubble build up inside the shaver for 5 days. The tip of another reviewer was good: Don't use and wear out the power switch. A good shave takes about 7 minutes. The product's design is beautiful.
They show no signs of dulling.
So there's NO moving at all. It did the job for me, maybe couldn't shave one or two hairs but thats about it, everything feels smooth and nice, and my skin isn't as irritated as I thought it would be, only downside is the cord is so SHORT.
It was much cheaper than the battery-based shaver, and does an excellent job. This time I ordered the "corded" Norelco. I am very pleased with it. I had been using battery-based shavers for 50 years. They tend to loose power as the battery is recharged many times.
doesn't do a bad job though. pay a little more for the cordless one, the cord is a pain and this model feels pretty cheap.
It has never needed any maintenance aside from shaking out the DNA-rich stubble. That's why I give this Norelco only four stars. It shaves my whiskers cleanly every morning, year after year, without irritating my leathery hide. It was a gift from my wife, not for a birthday but to replace a well-beloved Braun that got dropped once too often. The Braun was lighter and shaved a micro-bristle closer, but the model is no longer made. "After the first electric shaver, there is no other." I have the same feeling about cameras and dogs. It trims my sideburns precisely. It holds a charge for long enough to carry it on a camping trip for a week.
